Seed
Project type
Textile sculpture
Date
2007
‘Seed’ is an initial exploration of volume through textile techniques such as weft reps and coiling. Inspired by a Brachychiton seed in a personal collection, the work captures its latent nature: a small body that holds the promise of expansion.
The textile is constructed by suspending warp threads between two metal rings, one anchored to the ground and the other to the ceiling, and arranging them into a circular weave. Within, coiling creates an organic texture that evokes the materiality and complexity inherent in the seed.
